Tom Clyde – Moscow Russia sends it’s love w/ an exclusive

So, I sorta have this fetish with meeting people through social media sites, but one of my now good friends (Dasha Kapriccio) was somebody who first approached me from a comment I left on Stanton Warriors’ MySpace wall.  This girl, who I thought first was a bot, is now today a really good friend of mine.  Almost 7 months I’ve chatted with this foxy Russian and we now share a couple friends on a site which is Russia’s equivalent to Facebook–Vkontakte.

After clicking around and doing my research on this girl, I see BT on her wall!  But, it’s not BT thank goodness.  It’s Artem (pronouced “r-tom”…kinda), who goes by the name Tom Clyde.  He had posted a pretty tight break so in doing what we do on social media sites, I stumbled upon a page he has with mixes galore.  The man certainly has good taste in breaks!  Now, after bouncing back and forth a few different emails via Soundcloud, he was kind enough to send us over an exclusive mix with all kinds of yummy base and grimy breaks!

DRC Promo – Inbetween Worlds Promo

I’m not sure I have signed up for a social media site where I haven’t met or chatted with somebody I guess I might say I have an admiration for.  I’ve had the pleasure to B.S. with the author of The Game and Emergency, Neil Strauss on Twitter, Missi Pyle on Facebook (who is obviously not personally managing her FB anymore), and a couple others from other sites.  But most recently I had a fun lil run in with DJ DRC on Soundcloud.  I’d say I probably started listening to dance music in ’95/’96 and cassette tapes were actual things we used to listen to music back then.  I remember one of my first tapes was DRC’s Inbetween Worlds, and she was kind enough to send me mp3′s of 3 demo’s and permitted me to share them here.  Also, being a Seattleight, I’m excited to see that she’s compared to Donald Glaude (dude…MySpace!?) on her DJ List profile who represents J’s T-Town (aka Tac aka Tacoma) here in the Northwest.  But really, I’m just trying to come up with a good reason to post an awesome picture of him with Jenika (aka Jenika Breakbeat sometimes Housebreakin sometimes whatever the fuk Burton) and Shon (aka Frogger), and that’s the best I could come up with… :/  So, if you’re down with DG, and yet to get familiar with DRC, you’re in luck!  Here’s the pic which = awesome!

Jenika, DG, Frogger

Aaaaanywaz!  Back to DRC.  Here’s what her DJ List profile says about her:

The Legendary DRC continues to take the Electronic Music Industry by storm. With multiple releases already in 2010 and the licensing of several other tracks for 2 Mix CD’s by Simply Jeff and Shortee on Moist Music, DRC knows how to stay on top of the game! DRC is far more than just a DJ, but a producer, lyricist, singer, performer and published poet. She has studied Hindi Voice and music theory and has had years of Classical and Pop vocal training. DRC has also been an important member of San Francisco’s Test Press Committee for over 3 years (the electronic and dance music committee of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences http://www.pyramind.com/tpsf

Like that isn’t enough, thru DRC’s over 19 years in the industry she has consistently performed alongside many of the worlds best DJ’s and has been compared to the likes of Donald Glaude. Her exceptional skills behind the decks, strong presence & high voltage performances keep her in demand. DRC captivates all audiences wither she is most likely DJing or performing/singing LIVE as she did with Ars Nova (DRC & Chris Demetras) a few years back. Currently DRC is working hard in the studio with the talented DJ Denise/Mizumo Music. These two are a great team and have been making some serious noise together! In just a few years DRC & DJ Denise have quite the list of releases on labels across the globe, Top 10 chartings on djdownloads.com and multiple tracks licensed to CD compilations. You can also find some of DRC’s older releases featured in two music industry documentaries; “Vision of Vibe” with Carl Cox and “Intellect” featuring Paul Van Dyk and many others.

In addition to being able to listen to this widely known demo, be sure to check her out on Soundcloud (check out Sassyfrass) where she’s to this day still sharing her wicked basslines with us!  Thx DRC for the demos!  <3 ya!

The 12th Day of the New Year

I believe in God“, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;

He descended into hell. [See Calvin]

The third day He arose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Short Finger Licks

fingerlickinThis is another older mix I found on my desktop.  The Finger Lickin label certainly dominates my vinyl collection–especially the Plump DJs.  However, the label’s section in my collection is growing quickly.  Especially with tracks that have come out in the last year by Slyde and Drumatic Twins, you can expect there to be longer Finger Licks to come.  In the meantime, these are a few classics by the Plump DJ’s, along with Whitenoise by Shimon & Nixon.  Whatever happen to those two anyway?  Oh well.  Enjoy the mix.

  • Plump DJ’s – No Way
  • Plump DJ’s – Soul Vibrates
  • Plump DJ’s – Take the Weight
  • Plump DJ’s – Shiver
  • Shimon & Nixon – Whitenoise
